Cliff joined Lewis Silkin LLP as a Partner in 2006. He is the founder of Media & Entertainment practice within the firm’s Media, Brands & Technology team. Both Legal 500 and Chambers have acknowledged him as a ‘leader’ in his field. Cliff currently works for some of the world’s most reputable names in music, mobile, brands, advertising, production and online. He is also a Managing Director at ‘Eleven’. This advisory firm provides strategic and commercial advise to companies relating to the music, digital media, sport and film industries.
Cliff studied Law at the University of Warwick (1990-93) and founded the Warwick Law Society in 1991. After undertaking the LPC at College of Law he went on to train at Cameron & McKenna. Following this, he joined Warner Music as an in-house counsel, where he soon became Head of Legal Affairs. In 2003 Cliff held the title of Company Secretary and Legal Director for Capital Radio Plc. In 2005 he was in the Director of Legal Services in GCap Media.
As a digital lawyer, Cliff offers advice on music-based content, branded entertainment and rights issues, radio, mobile and new models for revenue, among other areas. He specialises in working with clients in the media, whose businesses are being transformed by convergence or whom are embracing content-based entertainment for the first time. Examples include FMCG and lifestyle brand owners, advertising agencies, digital agencies and financial institutions. Cliff is passionate about working on innovative new business models and in relation to the monetisation of rights.
